Agriculture in our country

            Nepal is a land locked country. No seaway is found in our country from other place. Our country is between India & China. Nepal is also an independent country and the main occupation of the Nepalese people is farming. At least 80% people are engaged in farming. Although, Nepal is a mountainous country in the south of the Himalayas most part of the country in unfitted for agriculture. Tall mountains, snow covered area river, lakes and forests have covered most of the part. The most useful area in our country is the Terai belt. Food grain is grown in the Tarai. Fruits & cattle products are made in the Himalayan region.

            Nepal is divided into 3 parts according to river. They are the Koshi region, Gandaki region and Karnali region. Nepal comes in the second position for water resources after Brazil in the world. It is also divided into 3 regions according to the atmosphere. The regions are the Himalayan region, Mountain region, & the terai region Different trebles live in the different region. Sherpa and tamangs live in the northern Himalayan region. Brahmins, chhetris, Limbus, Magar Gurung etc. settle in mountains. Tharu, Satar, Dhimal, etc. live in the tarai. But nowadays, other trebles from the Himalayas and mountains have also migrated in the terai region so that the Terai belt is very populated. The Terai is also called store of food grain.

            We have still the problem of irrigation. Although, Nepal is rich of water resource but must part of the land is out of irrigation. The winter crops can’t be strengthened. Because of the luck of flood controlling system and dams, we have been suffering from flood and land slide in the summer & rainy season. Every body must be careful for the improvement of our agriculture. The government must provide cheap fertilizer to the people.
