My Favouerite festival ‘DAHAIN’

In our Hindu religion, there are more festivals. Among them, Durgapooja or Dashain is one of the best festivals. It fills in the September or October. In other words, it is in the Asbin or kartik. Especially it lies in the asbin full moon from Pratipada purnima. Dahain is celebrated for 10 days but from Vijaya Dashami to 5 days, are not very important. The first day of the Dashain is called Gatasthapana. On this day, people keep jamara in a dark place. Growing yellow plants of maize barley, wheat etc is called jamara. Jamars is use on the day of vijaya Dashami. The priests and devotes start to wrship Goddess Durga from this day and recite the saptasati (chandi). There are Zoo verses (stanzas) in this saptasati. Because of the Zoo verses, it is called Saptasati.
The 7th day of Dashain is called Phoolpati (the flower day). Various kind of colourful flowers are entered into the main worshipping room of Goddess Durda. It is called Dashain Ghar (worhip house). Goats, sheep, Ducks, buffaloes, Chickens are sacrificed to Goddess in this festival. Various flowers are brought from Gorakha and kept in jamel Kathmandu on this Phoolpati day. On the eight day, the flower are brought to Hanuman Dhoka and offered to Goddess.54 he- buffaloes and 54 he goats are sacrified by cutting at mid- night of Mahaastami. Vegetarian people, especially Brahmins offer rice pudding to Goddess Durga. On the day of Mahaastami (on the eight day) cucumbers, Pumpkins, Bananas etc are cut and sacrificed to Goddess Durga as the symbols of demons or giants.
